Ao Nang is located approximately 6 kilometers from Hat Noppharat Thara and 20 kilometers from the town of Krabi. A large bay with scenic beaches and 83 small islands, Ao Nang has several famous beaches which include East Rai Le, West Rai Le and Tham Phra Nang (Cave) which stretches to the foot of a prominent limestone range. A Boat from Ao Nang Village can be hired for sightseeing excursions around Ao Nang, Hat Tham Phra Nang and Hat Nam Mao, all of which are only accessible by foot. Other offshore isles such as Ko Poda, Ko Kai, Ko Mo and Ko Thap, are popular destinations that can be reached by a rented boat from Ao Nang. An abundance of colorful coral reefs and lovely cartoon fishes make these islands ideal for diving and snorkeling.
Ao Nang Beach is a tourist hotspot of Krabi Province. It is part of Noppharat Thara Beach-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park and is one of Krabi beaches that are great for sunbathing and swimming. Prominent for its nearly two-kilometer-long beach and scenic views over the sea, with a beautiful limestone mountain on the far left of the coast, separating Ao Bang Beach and Railay Beach, and a river mouth on the far right, separating Ao Bang Beach and Noppharat Thara Beach, this place is a good combination of contrasting beauty. You can also take a Boat from Ao Bang Beach to other attractions such as Mu Koh Phi Phi, the Separated Sea, Koh Tub, Koh Moh, Koh Kai, Koh Poda, Phranang Cave Beach, Mu Koh Hong, Talay Nai, Koh Pak Bia, Koh Lao Lading, and Railay Beach, or go diving. Speaking of accommodations and facilities, there are many hotels, resorts, tour guide companies, restaurants, and shops available in Ao Nang.
